Ancestry of Mary [Denison] Wise

For many, many years, Mary [Denison] Wise, wife of Daniel (Ammi Ruhammah, Rev. John, Joseph) Wise was a “brick wall” in my family tree.  Her younger daughter Elizabeth is named in Cogswell family compilations as wife of Jonathan Cogswell (1740-1819), but her elder daughter Mary, wife of my ancestor Nathaniel Farley was not mentioned except in her marriage intention and her obituary.  Incorrectly identified when she was mentioned at all, she was the reason for the new study of the two unrelated Denison families in early Ipswich, Massachusetts.  Her ancestry has never been correctly given until now.

Mary (Denison) Wise had a short and tragic life.  Fatherless before she was five years of age, she married at 19 and gave birth to our ancestor Mary Wise within the year. Her son Daniel died at four months of age, and then she herself died within a week of the baptism of her infant daughter Elizabeth.  She had been married less than four years.
